One of the most popular inner suburbs of Brisbane City, Fortitude Valley may well be considered as Brisbane’s entertainment capital.
During the 1950s it was Australia’s largest shopping precinct outside a central business district. Then the 90s set about the suburb’s transformation into a hub of live music and nightlife. So, there’s absolutely a lot of things to do in Fortitude Valley, night and day.
As a commercial precinct, Fortitude Valley has a range of home retailers, luxury car dealerships, and fashion stores. It is also home to the Chinatown Mall. By nightfall, the young and the restless slowly find their way into the suburb’s nightspots and bars.
For those needing a dose of art therapy, Brunswick Street can lead them to some of the best art galleries in Brisbane. Besides, Victoria Park is just within walking distance. The Skyring Terrace isn’t so far either nor is the CBD and its Queen Street Mall.
And naturally, moving about wouldn’t be much trouble. There are taxi ranks set up at strategic areas to make certain the safety of passengers for those late night or early morning travels. And of course, there are buses and a railway station that service the area.

Located immediately northeast of the CBD, Fortitude Valley is approximately 1 square kilometre in total land area.
Less than half of the total households are family households with childless couples making up 34% and couples with children comprising a meager 9%. Single person households comprise 27% of the total while group households account for a further 24%. A whopping 70% of the dwellings in the area are rented while only 6% are owned outright.
